hmm.. weird, but you do understand what i mean right? if i do a power cycle on the box.. before it gets to the freebsd boot loader, right after it scans for scsi, it says Strike F1 to continue.. for BMC.. i'm not at the datacenter now... but you do understand what i mean right?

I don't understand and am not very understanding.
However I think several things.
1. You have some kind of box that acts as a server. It may or may not be actually a dell.
2. Your os is Unix/Linux based.
3. You remote into the system via telnet or some other software.
4. when you tell the system to reboot it hangs on a "Press F1 to continue" screen.
The Press F1 to continue is one of the most ANNOYING futile errors a system will give. It usually has to do with keyboard missing or stuck Key errors. You can configure the bios to NOT HALT on errors or to IGNORE Keyboard and Mouse errors etc.
Its probably a keyboard stuck message or a mouse failure or something on that order. PRESS F1 TO CONTINUE has nothing whatsoever to do with any software BMC or otherwise unless BMC has the same kind of error message in their software. I doubt that. Im not sure but I find it to be highly unlikely.
You really didnt provide any information to start out with though as to what system aka what service tag, os, etc that you have.

well that's very odd, but i'm not dumb, so i assume i just have to wait it out with this problem because i recall, it is set on "Report only" ... so this is one server i can't mess with.. also, it is the ONLY server with BMC.
i really appreciate your help, i will update it next time i have to reboot it.. thanks for everything.
Hi Guys, I had the same problem...
Tricky one indeed...it is not the BMC utility rather, I had the Embedded SATA enabled in the BIOS which showed no device detected on boot.
Once you disable the onboard SATA (its hidden in 2 places on the PE1950) then it will pass the BMC F1 torture mode.
We experienced this exact same issue after replacing the CD ROM drive. We found it to be a jumper issue. Changed the jumper from SLAVE to MASTER and she boot just fine after that.
I also have the same issue with a DELL server, but im scared to go into BIOS and start messing around, This is working live server utilized everyday.
I do have "CD-ROM not found message" on startup and I have unsuccessuly added a SATA CD-ROM drive to this PC.
Is it possible to supress this message without any harm? It's really an issue when my boss is trying to remote access the computer from home and for one reason or another he has to reboot, He wont be able to boot into the system without physically present. Anyways Im sure yall understand the problem, can someone pinpoint me more precise to what BIOS change if any can be made.

This is Dell support not BMC software inc support.
Posting in the BIOS forum of the hardware portion of the dell website is barking up the wrong tree.

This is DELL support. http://support.dell.com
This is NOT BMC support http://www.bmc.com
The question on how to unistall BMC management software should be answered by them Not by dell.

Thank you for your answer. I changed the SATA from AUTO to OFF. Now my server will boot with out hitting F1 to continue. Much appreciated.
