Dell Poweredge T320 - Lifecycle Controller Loop

Hello all and thank you in advance for any help.

I am stuck in the Lifecycle Controller loop when trying to enter the Lifecycle Controller. I have tried all of the solutions proposed. I have powered down, drained flea power and tried to cancel Lifecycle Controller actions. I have updated and rolled back BIOS, iDrac and Lifecycle Controller updates. If I try to launch the Lifecycle Controller the progress bar will complete to about 1/3rd complete and trigger a reboot. It will not react to any POST interventions and continues to boot/reboot to Lifecycle Controller. If I get lucky, I can eventually get to system setup by continually pressing F2 during POST.

Can you let me know if there are any other suggestions?

Is the Lifecycle controller, while making things easier at times, critical to overall health of the server? Can I just leave it disabled?

Thanks,

Rick

Heya Rick,

Yes, you can leave the Lifecycle controller disabled and have most of your functionality retained. I think the biggest issue you'll run into is that you won't be able to run firmware updates, until it's turned back on (fairly sure, but not 100%).

Have you tried an NVRAM clear? It would involve moving a jumper on the motherboard and resets the BIOS settings to default, but it might be helpful in getting the LCC to stop looping. If that's something you're interested in, the T320 manual should have a diagram of the board. You can probably find the information pretty fast by just searching "NVRAM" in the PDF.
