DELL R730XD Raid Problems
hi ,
im using R730xd.
I had to reset my raid configuration today. I select sata mode as raid from bios and when I log in with CTRL R I can't see any disk on the page.
When I log in with F10, I get the error in the picture. What could be the problem?I know that raid cards work without any problems. When I log in with ctrl c, all disks appear in the topology.

The Server is equipped with a H730! So go back into the BIOS and switch the SATA mode back. I hope this will bring back the real PERC. The "no raid" from the config sheet reffers to a "unconfigurated" raid level when the server ships from the factory. We always select this because it will showing all available HBAs within the configurator and we often need a RAID6 or multiple RAID Groups which cant handled by the configurator.
But the key info is the 405-AAEG.

Just guessing..... your Server is equipped with a Hardware RAID Controller like H730p (Mini) or so. All of your drives are already assigned or marked as RAID Disk.
Now youre probing around with the SATA options and enabled the S140 Software RAID Kontroller? Because of disks are already assigned the S140 doesnt see a single diks which creates such funny error msg.

raid control is turned on on the bios side. i have tried all possibilities i don't know what to do please help . device uses S130
How do I shut down the S130 and enable the raid card? does the raid controller in the bios mean S130? so when I turn it off, does the device see the card directly?
please help me with what I should do.
my goal is to reset all settings and create a raid again

Tell us which RAID Controller exisits... the R730"xd" (Extra Disks) comes most likely with a hardware controller rather than a Software one. (But who knows?) At least i have not very much knowledge using the S1xx controller. For sure all disks are in "use".

I cant remember if the H730 was available trough CTRL+R or if H710, PERC6i was the last ones where is was possible. If not its F10, SystemSetup -> Devices where you should select the H730. The GUI within LifeCycleController is similar or at least self explained if you ever have worked with anykind of RAID before.

Joerg
