Dell T320 enable Fan2

I would like to add a 2nd fan using the Fan 2 header.  I plugged in a 4-pin fan and it operates at full blast (all the pins are correct).

How do I enable the sensor reading on Fan2?

Are you connecting Internal or External cooling FAN.  You can refer below link for details

https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/poweredge-t320/t320ownersmanual/cooling-fans?guid=guid-7e3f411b-3e3d-4ca6-a548-1950243a1f58&lang=en-us

Are you using a supported FAN from Dell. Can you share the part number of the FAN and cable used?

I used the 4-pin internal fan from another t320, and put a 5-pin connector on it (one pin is blank).  I measured the pins on the motherboard to see which are 12v and gnd. The remaining 2 pins must be tach and speed control, right?

Connecting Internal FAN on external fan slot is not supported. As it is not supported we can guarantee that it will work.

I'm going to buy an external Dell T320 fan and see it that will work.  Meanwhile, is there a command to enable it using ipmitool or in the BIOS?

Hello,

I don't have a list of ipmitool command to enable external FAN, and I don't think you can do it from BIOS

Dell sells the external fan as an option.  There must be a way to enable it, yes?  However, no one at Dell knows how.
