Dell T640 3.5" caddy
good morning, nice community!
the context: there is a Dell T640 in the 8x3.5" chassis. I have purchased a single 2.5" SSD, a 3.5" caddy and a 2.5-to-3.5 adapter.
the problem: I managed ( ! ) to put the assembled caddy inside a slot, but cannot take it out. Also, it looks like the caddy isn't long enough for the disk to attach to its port on the backplane.
I suspect I did something very very wrong.
the questions:
1. what is the correct part number of a 3.5" caddy compatible w/ the T640?
2. do I need anything else in the HDD compartment installed before I put a cuddy in?
best regards,
Dmitry

Hello Dmitry
Did you purchase the SSD as a Kit from Dell? It should come with the carrier.
We don't sell carriers separately but you can contact our Spare Part Department to order the service part numbers below.
Call in to Sales and ask for the Spare Part Department to get a quote. These part number don't come up on the Dell web page.
These should be the part numbers you need:
R9445 - SCR,M3X.05X4.5MM,FLH,MSCR,ZPS (you need 7 of these)
KG1CH - ASSY,CARR,HD,SAS,3.5
9W8C4 - ASSY,BRKT,MET,ADPT,2.5-3.5,V2
