Lifecycle controller FTP Firmware update failing

When I attempt to update the firmware via Licecycle ctonroller FTP option to simply the default of 'ftp.dell.com' all I get is "Connecting to FTP server to download the catalog" for about 5 minutes and then a failure (see attached image).

Is there a trick here to get this work? No proxy server and the network is open to go out. No proxy, and just specifying the feault 'ftp.dell.com'.

I had the same problem with R620 two days ago, solution that worked for me was going into bios -> iDRAC setting -> reset to default (be sure that you have Service Tag cause this could erase ST number). Good luck!

Hello

Have you gone to the Settings section of the LCC and configured your network settings? What is the result of using the Test Network Connection link at the bottom of that page? Are you able to access ftp.dell.com through a browser on the same network as the iDRAC/LCC?

This type of issue is usually caused by incorrect configuration of network settings within the LCC, network security policies, or a routing/security issue with the ISP.

Thanks

It seems that the network interface is not configured correctly for example the NIC / LOM selected for internet output (dhcp / static)

After properly set just follow the options

Launch Platform Update

FTP Server

FTP Server setting address:  ftp.dell.com

NOTE: If an error occurs on screen of the catalog not be found, complete the field "Catalog location Update Package Path" as: Catalog  (just like that)

Hello,

We run into strange problem when updating Dell PowerEdge R620 Lifecycle controller:

First we use ftp.dell.com as FTP site and get DNS error.

Then we use the IP address of ftp.dell.com 143.166.147.76 and get the following error:

Warning

Firmware Update

FTP authentication failed. Enter the correct user name and password, and retry.

Had anyone have the same experience and work around?

Thanks in advance, Keith

This solution worked for me:

1) Shutdown the server.

2) Disconnect the two power supplies.

3) Wait 2 minutes.

4 ) Connect the two power supplies.

5) Restart the server.

for the bleary eyed of us, which solution worked?

a) "unplugging for 2 minutes" (I'm new to Dell servers - should I be antiquating myself to the process of removing power to a server for a duration?

b) "reset your idrac, but be warned"

I used downloads.dell.com and it works just fine.

Con esto se soluciona normalmente ftp.dell.com, siempre y cuando vayamos a las configuraciones de red y le asignemos una ip a las configuraciones ipv4, las ipv6 las dejan asi. Deberia funcionar asi.

With this, ftp.dell.com is usually solved, as long as we go to the network configurations and assign an ip to the ipv4 configurations, the ipv6s leave them that way. It should work like that.

thnks!
