Sorry ... we have no way of knowing a user's background, and when you said "i dont understand what A13 is", I - fairly - made the assumption that your experience with hardware was very limited.

Have you upgraded/replaced the processors, or are these the ones that came from the factory?

Either way, 1.2.0 is VERY old and you risk this and other issues keeping it at this level.  I would strongly recommend updating your system firmware (BIOS, ESM/BMC, backplane, RAID, HDD, NIC, DRAC).

Since you are running ESX, you will need to update outside of the OS:

Download the following ISO and create a DVD using the image (SBUU - Systems Build and Update Utility) - it contains the mechanism used to update firmware outside of the OS:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/2684/DriverDetails/DriverFileFormats/Product/poweredge-2950?DriverId=NF1CT&FileId=2731102793&urlProductCode=False

Download the following ISO's and create a DVD using the final image (SUU - Server Update Utility - pay particular attention to the Installation Instructions on the download page for each ISO image) - it contains the repository of updates to be used with SBUU:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/2684/DriverDetails/DriverFileFormats/Product/poweredge-2950?DriverId=42VF0&FileId=2988879742&urlProductCode=False

You will first boot to SBUU, choose Update Fimware, then when you are prompted for the update repository, you insert the SUU media.  It will update all your firmware at once.

A13 is the latest BIOS version, but if we are starting that basic, you might consider local PC/server tech support to assist.

What model server do you have?

Is there an OS installed or are you wanting to repurpose this server?

What have you tried?

What BIOS version do you have?

hi theflash1932,

thanks for the response.

i m more into virtualization and storage area network. an error like this with the server is really confusing though i have been building servers for a long time.

here are the informations; i got Dell powerEdge 2950

it has got ESXi 5.0 on it

the BIOS version is 1.2.0

when i turn on the the machine, and the boot up is about to complete, it gives the message "Warning! No microcode update loaded for processor 1 and processor 2"

it does not freeze the machine though, the message appears and goes away.

appreciate your help
