I have an old R300 at home and decided to fix it, i've found what's wrong with it (sort of) but still isn't working fully as i want it to.
i eventually found the issue, my issue was the ram, so i emptied all the slots and tried alot of configurations, but can't find the right configuration that will work, i have 6 x 4gb DDR2 samsung sticks.
Here's some of the one's i've tried: 4-0-0-0-0-0 worked, 4-4-0-0-0-0 worked, 4-4-4-0-0-0 didn't work, 4-4-4-4-0-0 didn't work, 4-4-4-4-4-0 didn't work and 4-4-4-4-4-4 also didn't work.
I think i'm missing a sort of configuration for the ram sticks but i do not know what it is and where to find it, anyone got any idea's?
Is all DIMM's are identical and supported by Dell? Can you share the part number of the DIMM? Below could be some of the troubleshooting steps we can try
As DIMM is getting detected in first 2 slot, can you try all DIMM's in first 2 slots one by one so that we can ensure all DIMM's are working fine.
As issue observed when you insert on DIMM on slot 3, can you skip slot 3 and insert DIMM like 4-4-0-4-0-0. This way we can check whether DIMM slot have any issue
Did you have latest BIOS and BMC FW installed on the server? If not you can try to update latest BIOS and BMC FW and check the behaviour.
