PowerEdge T310 memory upgrade
Hi!
I have tried upgrading my RAM of the T310.
I wanted to add 2x4 GB in slots 3 and 4 next to the already working 2x4 GB in slots 1 and 2. (The sticks are the same, 4gb reg ecc 1333 mhz)
I get the following errors while booting:"Memory Initialization Warning: Memory size may be reduced.
Quad rank DIMM detected after single rank or dual rank DIMM in socket: DIMM A3
MEMBIST failure - The following DIMM has been disabled by BIOS: DIMM A1
MEMBIST failure - The Following DIMM has been disabled by BIOS: DIMM A3"
I searched for this error, and I found that in the USC I have to enable "Collect System Inventory on Restart" and
I have to set "Part Firmware Update" to Match Firmware of Replaced Part. Did it but when I want to save changes and exit it sets another error: "Part Replacement firmware update feature requires the Dell Vflash card in order to take effect. The card is not currently present." What does it mean? I have an SD card installed and enabled. I have read that I need to upgrade my USC. Now that's where the next error comes in.
I downloaded an update for it from: https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=0wfgm&oscode=ws8r2&productcode=poweredge-t310
Followed the instructrions, put it on a usb drive, selected the image in USC, than it says: "The updates you are trying to apply are not Dell-authorized updates." Well okay than. I am totally lost now.
BIOS version 1.14.0 (I was able to update it)
iDRAC version 2.97 (I was able to update it) It says its license is Enterprise
Lifecycle Controller Firmware 1.5.1.57 (It is default, I was unable to update it.)
Help.

Hello
The memory error you are receiving is quite specific. There are many specifications to consider for memory population. If the memory you are installing has 4 ranks(quad rank) then you may not be able to install it. You can find the memory population rules in the system manual.

The method that you use to update the LCC will determine the type of file you can use to perform the update. If you boot into system services/LCC then I think it will accept 32-bit Windows Dell Update Packages. If you update the LCC through the iDRAC embedded web server then it will accept a .usc image file. You can find iDRAC/LCC documentation on the iDRAC support page.
