R720 CPU upgrade
Hello PowerEdgers,
I was looking into upgrading CPU on my R720 to replace an old E5-2620 and the first CPU in supported CPUs list here page (which is E5-2697v2) seems like a considerable upgrade but I stumbled on this piece of information in the ark.intel.com:
E5-2620 - Package Size 52.5mm x 45.0mm
E5-2697V2 - Package Size 52.5mm x 51mm
I measured my E5-2620, and it indeed has 45mm, and I looked at the socket and I don't see how 51mm would fit in there.
So the question is: is there some kind of extra information (like FCLGA2011 socket variations on different R720 motherboard revisions or there is some trick installing 51mm CPU or 51mm maybe compatible with 45mm) somewhere that explains what actually I'm seeing here?
Sorry if this has already been asked somewhere, can't find the info.
Thank you.

Ah, had too look at the actual CPU, seems like 51mm has notches at the corners to let it fit into 45mm socket, well, disregard then.
