System ID Mode
Can a server go into system id mode when it gets rebooted? I have an XR2 that was rebooted and we could not remote into it because it was in id mode. Is there a way to make sure it always boots back up in health mode?

Went solid blue. Rebooted and stayed solid blue. I have not checked the DRAC.

Hello DrHotDog,
When you pressed the "i" button did go to solid blue?
Have you retried reboot to see that it stays solid blue or go to another state?
System health and system ID indicator codes : https://dell.to/3OrZM4f
Have you checked the logs in the DRAC for any issues listed?

Hi Chris,
I am not sure what the state was before it was rebooted, just the guy sent out to figure out what was going on with it. We had remote access to the server, there was a windows update that forced the server to reboot, then we lost remote access. When I went out to see what was happening, I noticed the blue indicator flashing for ID mode. When I pressed it to go into health, we could remote in again.
This is the first time this has happened with this server and the XR2 is up to date. Thanks.

DrHotDog,
Would you confirm a couple of things for me?
When you see the issue, if you hit the System ID button which should put it back into health mode, if after doing that when you reboot does it again revert to ID Mode?
Was there something that occurred on the system prior to this issue appearing?
Also, is the XR2 up to date and current?
Let me know and we can go from there.

The iDRAC does not look like it was ever set up. That, or the IP for it was never listed and I have tried all the ones we have on file. If we can not pull the logs, can we safely assume that if it is in system health mode and reboots again, it will start up in health mode?

If there is no other indication of an error, then yes it is a safe assumption that if it is rebooted from a healthy state then it should remain in that state upon the completion of the reboot.
