Upgrading OS Drives - RAID1 Configuration
Hi,
Scenario:
I currently have a RAID1 configuration with 2 x Dell 120GB 2.5-Inch Solid State Drives for my Operating System. However, I am starting to run low on space. I have purchased 2 x Dell 500GB 2.5-Inch Solid State Drives to replace the above mentioned drives.
Question:
How can I replace the original drives without having to backup, recreate the virtual disk / RAID and reload Windows and software?
Server Info:
Dell PowerEgde T430 server
RAID Controller: PERC H730
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
David N

Hello David,
within OMSA (Dell OpenManage Server Adminstrator) there should be a ""Replace Member Disk..." option. After replacing both disk there should be a way to perform the Online expansion. The later one may only works if you have ONE virtual disk on your RAID1 and not multipble. The last step would be to expand the filesystem within your given OS.

Thanks Origin3k - I actually came right (Asked AI).
I replaced the drives one at a time, let them rebuild, then used OMSA to reconfigure the virtual disk and expand the size. Once completed, I used disk management to extend the partition from the unallocated space.
All sorted!
