I have an OUT OF WARRANTY T710 that for some reason is burning up SAS drives. I pulled one out and it was so hot it burned my hand (and I have some tough hands!).
The rear fans are turning, and nice and clean.
What could cause this? I could get some rear fans off eBay and hope for the best, but I am not a "swap and hope" kind of guy. I would rather narrow it down.
No, just busy. I am also not sure what to tell you. In OMSA what does it show for the fan speeds? Normal? I know you said you updated the firmware, but just to be sure, you have updated the iDRAC to the latest version? It is the iDRAC, not the BIOS, that controls the fans and system temp monitoring. You can't control the fan speeds - only the threshold for warning and error level actions.

Are your drives certified Dell drives? Their firmware also up to date? Any third-party expansion cards installed?
