1600sc raid setup and configuration

Hello,

I came into possession of a 1600sc and started playing around with it to learn RAID, which I have little experience with.  It is a poweredge 1600sc with the integrated LSI logic 1020/1030 ultra scsi adapter onboard and I have 3 scsi 36gb hard drives mounted in the drive cage and they spin up and are detected on boot up.  I have used the open server management CD to boot off of but I do not see any option for RAID configuration on this CD.  I also checked the system bios (f2) utlility partition (f6?) and the scsi bios (alt-A?) and nothing about configuring a RAID.  I also used the server assistant CD to load windows2003 and then used array manager utility in windows but , again, I saw nothing about RAID configuration.

I'm at a loss.....I want to experiment with different RAID configs (like raid1 and 5).  Can someone please tell me how tro go about this?  or do I need to go and buy an add-on pci (or pciX)scsi card (perc4) to make RAID happen?

Thanks

John

The on board controller is only a SCSI controller, it does not have RAID. You would need to buy something like the PERC 4/SC or DC or use OS based RAID.
