add new scsi drive to raid array

Question

I have just added a scsi drive to a hardware raid 5 array of three drive making the array four drives. I now have C:, and D: partition as well as an empty partition from the new drive. If I try and format the new drive and use it I will end up with an E: drive which I don't want. What I would like to do is extend the D: partition into the space available from the new drive. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Hardware Spec:
PE 1300
Perc 2/sc hardware raid 5
3 9.1GB IBM Drives
1 18GB IBM Drive (the new drive)

Hi

I don't think you can extend your D: partition. This is if I remember it correctly a limitation of Windows, not the array manager software.

You could use a mounted drive, though. Rather than assign a drive letter, the new drive is mounted in an empty directory on D:. You use disk manager to do that.

I've never done it myself because I dont' like the concept. But maybe it's OK for you.
