add scsi drive

I have a powersdge  2650 with a raid 1 disk aray 36 gig drives). I am trying to add a 76 gig drive for user backups as a stand alone drive. I pluged the drive in and went to disk manager. The drive is not there. How do I get the server to see it?

Hi,

Assuming you have a RAID controller you would reboot and go into the ctrl A for the embedded PERC controller, or Ctrl m if you have a PERC on a PCI card. Then create the logical drive (on ctrl m controllers you initialize the new logical drive, on ctrl a controllers, you initialize the new drive before you create the new logical drive).

Hi,

I have a Server PowerEdge 1800 with PERC 4/SC and i have the following experience with this Raid Controller.

All disks connected in the controller must be part of a Logical drive (I.E. Must be part of a RAID 0, 1 ,5 , 10 or 50). We can not configure a drive as stand alone drive. For example, you can not have 2 disks configured as a raid 1 and one stand alone disk (not part of any Raid).

This is in my specific case and i have no additional information about the controller used in your server.

Maybe this information can help you,

Regards,

Marcos Silva
