Adding HD in PE2950
I have two units of brand new PE2950 without any OS.
C3 Raid1 configuration
1 x 4 Backplane for 3.5" Hard drives
73GB 3.5" 15K RPM SAS Hard drive
PERC 6/i, Integrated Controller card for 3.5" x 4 Hard drive
On my first PE2950;
1. I want to take out both the 73GB hard disks and install 4 units of 146GB hard disks but still on Raid 1.
and on the second PE2950;
2. I want to put in additional 4 units of 73GB hard disks on top of the 2x73GB HD but still on Raid 1
or,
3. I want to put in additional 4 units of 73GB hard disks on top of the 2x73GB HD and remove the Raid config.( No raid)
It would be helpful if you can provide me the step by step guide on how to carry out the above as I am new to Dell.

First; do you have any data you need to preserve, or are the drive blank (or maybe you'll reinstall the whole OS anyway)?
Note: for the first server you said " install 4 units of 146GB hard disks but still on Raid 1". Do you mean you want 2 raid 1's, or do you want to go raid 10?
For the 2nd server you want to upgrade to 6 harddrives if I'm understanding you correctly. However initially you said you have " 1 x 4 Backplane for 3.5" Hard drives". I'm not sure if you can use 6 drives with such a backplane. A different backplane and/or additional cables may be needed.

I will have to forget about the idea of putting in 6 hard disks since its got only 1 x 4 backplane ofr 3.5" hard drives.
Now I decided to take out both the 73GB hard disks and install 4 new units of 3.5 inch 146GB SAS HDs and remove the Raid1 configuration (No Raid). Any step by step guide on how i can do this?
Thanks.
