Adding Raid to my 1600SC
Hello all,
I have a 1600SC that I would like to add a raid array to. I have lots of experience with IDE raid configurations but none with SCSI raid. I've been looking at cards and notice that many do not have a place on them to plug in the drives. How do these work??? Does it add functionality to the mobo? On IDE configs you plug all the drives in the array up to the actual card so Im a bit confused...
Also, if you could make a recommendation on a raid card or hard drive brand that would be great too. I am looking for a card comparable in quality to the 1600 and it also needs to have raid 5 capabilities. If it matters Im not planning using the hd that came with the dell, Im going to buy 3 more. I want to keep the OS and the database on separate drives in case 2003 explodes.
Thanks for the help in advance!
Rick
