BOSS S1 Compatability Questions

Hello,

I have a Poweredge T140 with a boss controller. Currently it has the 240 Gb micron card in it from Dell, it works good. I bought an intel M.2 drive, 665p 1024Gb. After reading the BOSS product guide, and seeing the list of suggested drives, all three suggested models in the list are M.2 SATA drives, whereas, the intel 665p is M.2 NVMe. From what I've read, although many M.2 adapters will support NMVe if they support M.2 SATA, not all do.

To my question/issue. I installed the intel drive in the boss controller and it just doesn't show up anywhere. Not in disk management, not in bios - nowhere. Is this drive actually incompatible or is there some magical command i need to run to get the adapter to recognize the device?

Drivers are up to date, for boss adapter and everything else on the server. Can't install intel drivers because there is no visible device to install them for.

On a side note, I recently put the exact same drive on a dell XPS8930 desktop with on an on-board M.2 drive slot and it also was a little screwy. I ended up having to initialize the drive using a live linux boot (because windows disk management would not, even though the motherboard did,) but once initialized in linux, i was able to reboot with a Windows 10 recovery drive and install the fresh OS...

I really hope to use this drive without having to get a new PCIe drive controller. Got them on newegg for a steal, it's been nothing short of amazing on the desktop, stupid fast and impressive overall specs and I have almost 75 VM's I'm planning to run on this drive on the server, so i'm anxious to get it installed.
