Can't get single drive working

Hello everyone,

I have a r630 with fully updated firmware and I have a single hard drive [ HGST Ultrastar SSD1600MM HUSMM1640ASS201 400 GB SSD ] that I am trying to install Centos 8 on it.  First off I tried disabling RAID in the bios and that seems to shutdown the hard drive access all together.  So enable raid again (PERC H730P Mini) and try to disable raid on that single drive, that doesn't seem to work.  Based on my reading it seems I have to setup a raid 0 with the single drive.  The drive is recognized and I setup the virtual disk successfully.  The only thing weird is I try to do both slow + fast initialize and it just stays a 0% progress.  I have no idea what that is about and I can't find anything saying if I have to initialize.  

When I try to install Centos 8 I am able to select the drive but when it tries to "initialize storage" right in the beginning it throws an exception...unable to transfer files.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  I've never dealt with anything like this.  Thank you
