Dell PowerEdge R310 RAID1 Issues
Ok, bear with me as this is kind of a strange problem...
I have 2 Dell PowerEdge R310 servers with Windows 2008 Server R2 on them. Both also are on a RAID1 system with the PERC H200 controller. These two machines are used basically as servers for the control terminals in our manufacturing process. They are mirrored so that if one of them goes down while we are in production, the terminals on the floor can connect to the remaining one without having to stop our process, etc..
Anyway, they normally run fine with no issues. However, about 6 months back, we had a bad power issue and it caused them both to shut down. When we tried to bring them back up after the power issue was resolved, one server had 2 failed drives, and the other server had one failed drive. We attributed this to the power issue and rebuilt the servers. Dell even came out and replaced the controller and back-plane in them just in case.
A month ago, we had to shut the servers down for weather related issues when we had a freak ice-storm around here. We don't get them often so as a precautionary measure we shut down everything in case power was knocked out by falling tree limbs, etc. Well, when we powered them back up, 3 of the 4 drives were once again lost and we had no problems with the power. The shutdown was a normal controlled shutdown on both machines.
Has anyone here seen anything like this before? I would like to at some point be able to stop throwing hard drives at this system every time we have to shut it down.
Thanks in advance,
CG

Swerved,
The first thing I would look at doing is updating the controller and drives to current. This sounds like it may be a communication issue, which can be caused from the system being out of date.
What is the current driver and firmware version for the controller as well as the drives?
The current version are located here -
driver - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r310?driverId=2VWD1&osCode=WS8R2&fileId=3175166273&languageCode=en&categoryId=SF
firmware - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r310?driverId=8TPD2&osCode=WS8R2&fileId=3290126540&languageCode=en&categoryId=SF
Let me know what you find.

Actually, I'm showing the most current driver as being 2.0.35.10, A09
Date - 04/25/13... Which is the one I have installed in the machine(s). The one you linked to is almost 3 years older than the one that is installed on my servers.
As for the drives, I'm using Western Digital Enterprise WD5003ABYX 500GB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s drives. They aren't Dell certified, but are the exact same specifications as the original Dell drives I had the same problem with when this first occurred. The ones I lost this time were manufactured in July of 2013.. The ones I just them with were manufactured in November of 2013.
I will have to get back with you on the firmware, but I'm almost positive it's current, I went through all of this with a Dell tech back in July. But, I will double check and get back to you.
**** EDIT *****
After looking at the firmware in OpenManager I see that the version I have is 7.01.33.00 which seems to me is older than the version of Firmware you linked to me. I will go ahead and upgrade this, however I'm kind of hesitant to do so seeing as every time I reboot it kills a drive (or 3).
I will let you know what happens.
