Dell-PowerEdge R710 Error
Hello all,
Our server is flashing an error we've never seen:
'W1228 Raid Controller <24hr'
Has anyone ever seen this message?
Thoughts, ideas or suggestions are much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Cbcegineer,
The W1228 error is indicating that the RAID battery charger has reported to the Server Management that the battery is either missing, cannot charge the battery (possibly because of high temperatures), or the battery is bad. Now this can also be due to the controller getting really far back in updates as well. Are you seeing any of these on the server?
You can also try to reseat the cable connecting the battery as well.
Let me know what you see.
You can find the manual here as well - http://bit.ly/1kRptEr

Reseating the cable won't effect your data at all. The battery is solely used to for writing the remaining cache data to the controller, in the event of a failure.

Could you clarify the controller installed? I believe it is a Perc 6/i or a n H700.
If the Perc 6/i then you would need this link - http://dell.to/1w25Nru for the driver file.
If the H700 - http://dell.to/1yfD0QA
Let us know.

Hello,
A couple questions for you.
1) The link for the RAID controller (for Windows Server 2003 x86)
2) If we reset the battery cable, will the RAID configuration be lost?
Thanks in advance!! ^_^
