Dell Server replacement Disk R730XD
The server has RAID5 disk volumes built on the hardware RAID controller with 6 TB drives. The problem is that two disks have failed, and data volumes are not accessible in the operating system now. Also, there is no availability of 6 TB drives here and only 8 TB are available. I need your help on the following issues:
1. How to recover the data from the volumes in this case when 2 disks have failed?
2. Can we add different capacity disks (8 TB) to the server and those can be part of the same RAID5 configuration.

Hello, sorry to hear that. RAID 5 cannot recover from two failed drives, as it only has one parity disk that can regenerate data from one failed drive. If you have important data that is not backed up, you may need to contact a data recovery company. Alternatively, you can try to reseat the last failed drive and force it online, but this is not guaranteed to work.
If the same specification drives, you can add different capacity drives (8 TB) to the server, but the new drives will only use the same capacity as the smallest disk in the array, so you will waste some space with 8 TB drives.
