Disk cache on H710
Hello,
when i have H710 with 1GB of NVRAM and BBU, i should disable disk cache because BBU does not cover for data on disk cache correct?
Performance wise, it should be the same with disk cache is enabled or disabled (SQL server, 1DB, 400GB big, 8 sas 600gb drives in raid10)?

Also,
i dont see there is write/read cache option (75% read 25% write), is this option available on this controler?

Hi,
i was talking about the disk write cache setting on raid controller. Are you sure i will get performance increase if i enable is since i have 1gb of cachr on controller itself?

Hello opti2k4
The HDD cache setting within the operating system does not matter. The use of HDD cache is controlled through the RAID controller. If you enable the HDD cache within the controller it will increase performance, but it is not battery backed so it can cause data loss/corruption in the event of power loss. If you have the server powered through a UPS then the risk of data loss/corruption is reduced.
Thanks

Yes, it will increase write performance.
Write back caching is write caching. Adaptive read ahead is read caching. You don't set a percentage to either. Read caching only works with sequential reads. It will prefetch the next sequential data. You can read more about the controllers here:
