"Enable write cache" under windows device manager and perc 6I
hello,
on dell poweredge 2950 III with PERC 6, under windows device manager we have for each hard drive device / virtual disk the option "Enable write cache on the device". by default it is deactivated. did we need to activate this option or not ? Also i read that by default cache in the hard drive level are deactivated in the factory because only the cache of the perc controller must be used (that is secured thank to the battery). how to check that the cache mechanism on the hardrive is well deactivated ?

The PERC ignores/disables this setting, so leave it as default. The PERC is handling all write-caching with its 256MB onboard battery-backed cache.
