Error: No Boot device available
Hi,
I have two Dell 2600 servers. One server had issues with the Disc drive so what I did was exchange the drives of the machine with a problem with the one that the Disc drive was Ok. That was after turning the power off obviously.
When I turned the machine on it gave me an error: No Boot device available.
When I check if the disks are detected, I can see that they have been detected.
When I returned the drives I had removed to the original machine that had a working Disc drive, it too now could not boot and gave me the same error.
I have been trying to figure out how I can make the Server to boot form the HDD but in vain.
Please someone help......

Hello godporiot
Are these drives in a RAID array, are you using a RAID controller?
If so, what RAID controller?
Are these drives cabled or attached to a backplane?
Thanks

Boot into the controller BIOS via CTL A. View the array information and let me know the status of each drive and what RAID level the array is(0,1,5,10,50).

The status of each drive is online and the level of the array is 3. Thats for one server. The other server does not go to the controller BIOS when I press CTL A. I have two options press CRT M or CRTL H, and when i press any of them it not responding too. When I try to go to the Utility Mode I get the error "Utility partition not available". With the other server I can go to the utility mode.

While RAID 3 is a valid RAID level none of our RAID controllers are capable of it. CTL M is the key sequence to enter the controller BIOS for the PERC 4/DI. CTL A is the sequence for entering Adaptec RAID controllers. Our older LSI controllers use CTL M and the DI is an LSI controller.
Let's focus on the server that is having issues. Go into the controller BIOS and find out what RAID level it is set to, and what the status of the drives are.
Thanks
