ERROR updating PERC H730P Adapter Controller

Hi,

I got a nasty problem when I tried to update our R920 to the latest bios and firmwares.

All went OK except for the PERC H730P Adapter firmware which gives me all the time:
"...The firmware update was unsuccessful because the authentication of the signed firmware image failed.".

I updated already iDrac as well, but the problem did not got away. Unfortunately did I need to put the server back to production after several hours of trial and error.

Any help would be appreciated as this drives me crazy.

Thank You

Hello

What is the exact file you are using? Also, what is the update method? Some of our older update packages have expired certificates. Our applications that check the certificates should have an option to allow expired certs. Does the method you are using have an option like that?

Thanks

Hi,

I use the executable method and the following file from the R920 Drivers & downloads page:

http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/poweredge-r920/drivers

there I tried all last available Dell Perc H730p f/w files...

All with the same strange problem.

PS. the latest file is dated 22th of May 2018

the above solution only applies to the R920s to our knowledge.

Thanks,

  1. Update to version A03 using iDRAC
    1. https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER02864367M/2/SAS-RAID_Firmware_V43G1_WN64_25.2.2-0004_A03.EXE
  2. Reboot the Server
  3. From A03 you should be able to go to latest A13
    1. https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=F675Y&osCode=W12R2&productCode=poweredge-r920
  4. Reboot the server, if the update still does not show applied a 2nd reboot will be needed.
