Failed drive now foreign config cleared

Our RAID was degraded. The new drive we installed was marked as foreign. In the PERC H700 the foreign config for the array was cleared, so now the array will not boot up. No other changes have been made to the system.

I read that retag the array could restore functionality, but I think the original server's raid was configured through the OS in System Administrator. I'm scared to setup a new VD in the PERC H700 BIOS, because I think that might erase anything I could recover.

The following link provides an ISO that can perform data recovery. I'm downloading it now to at least grab any logs I can. Can I also recover the old RAID through this utility?

I was able to get the logs off the PERC H700 controller, but I'm not able to make heads or tails of it. I see the raid not rebuilding because the drive is marked as foreign and "is not a certified drive". However it is a 3 TB Dell drive and we know these drives work.

I've read that a retag could recover the RAID, but I don't remember any config being present in Ctrl + R when I started this process. Can I boot the live disk, go into Server Administrator, and rebuild the raid from there? What should I do about the configuration in Ctrl + R?

Anyway, thank you for any help you can provide.

Thank you for the response, Robert. I must have replied to my post at the same time as you. I'm going to see if I can recreate a VD with the same RAID type and size as the last one. From there I'll look into retagging this thing, though I didn't notice a retag option in Ctrl + R.

Unfortunately, the sysadmin who originally built this is no longer with us, so it's in the hands of a network admin.

I'm pretty sure the guy who set this up just used the defaults for the original VD. I've got the size and raid type set, but I don't have the VD Name. Is that only relevant to the controller, or will I need that too?
