Hotswap Raid 5 replacement

I have a degrading server hard drive on the Dell server. I have a replacement hard drive that I plan on swapping. Can I hot swap hard drive with the computer turned on at Windows Server Desktop without losing data? Also, does Dell have a free tool I can use to monitor the RAID rebuilding process?

Model: Dell R310

You can run below command is also to monitor VD state and rebuild progress

command to check VD status

omreport storage vdisk

Command to check rebuild progress of virtual disk

     omreport storage pdisk controller= pdisk=

E.g. omreport storage pdisk controller=0 pdisk=0:1:5

To get controller id you can run below command

omreport storage controller

Hello,

If the drive in question has failed, then it can safely be replaced. If it is in a predicted fail state, you'll want to mark the drive as offline, first. As for the rebuild process, you'll want to install OpenManage Server Administrator. You can find the download on the support site. I can also link to the latest version, if you can share what version of Windows you have.

My Dell server runs on Windows Server 2019.

Please provide the link for the latest version of OpenManage Server Administrator.

Thank you.

Hi, if I may step in, try local user account 'root'?
