Maximum Storage for Dell 2900
Hi,
I have a Dell 2900 with a PERC 5i Raid card. It has the 1x8 Drive config. Currently I have 3 SAS disks (146Gb 10k) in RAID 5. I want to install a RAID 0 SATA array in the remaining 5 slots.
Is there a limit to the total storage amount connected to the PERC (for example there is a RAID10 limit of 3.6Tb for a Dell R510). Would like to install 5x 2TB SATA drives. Thanks in advance.

According to the PERC 5 User Guide the controller has these capabilities:
PERC 5 User Guide PDF: support.dell.com/.../ug_en.pdf
Maximum Number of Drives per Array -- Up to 32 drives per array
Maximum Number of Arrays per Disk Group -- Up to 8 arrays (in a spanned configuration)
Your actual limitations are going to come from the amount of hard drive slots you have and the size of the hard drives.
You should have no problem adding a RAID 0 with the remaing slots you have.
