Move Raid to new Box

Howdy,

I've blown a motherboard on a server that has a RAID 5 in place.  I need to recover the contents of that.  What's the best manner to move those drives to a new box and get that same RAID back up and running?  Note that I have a second server with the same components as the original.

thanks

1. Make sure the controller firmware is at the same or higher revision.  The controllers are identical, right?

2. Is the backplane configuration the same on both servers?  Some servers had an option of a split backplane.  This might confuse the RAID controller if it sees the drives on different controllers than they were originally.

3. Label the drive with the channel and slot it was in.

4. Move the drives over to the new system.

5. Boot it and enter the controller firmware.  It will complain that the configuration doesn't match the controller.  That's OK as long as it finds all the containers on the old drives.

6. Display the configuration, make sure it's all there, and save it.

7. You're now back in business.
