PE2600 RAID
HI again
Got another Server RAID question.. I am trying to place an order of the follow spec PE2600, but our account manager said I can't have the 2x3 Backplan and can only have 1x6 as i was told the system wont' support it
PE2600,
2x3 BP, with 4x 36G 10K U320 drive on the Main HD bay
using Perc 4/di embedded RAID controller.
Media Bay will be used for a PV100T DDS4 tape backup.
Can someone tell me if this is config should work? If not, will it work if I use the Perc4/dc (2x int channel) instead? Or will i just have to use the 1x6 BP as our a/c manager said?
Many Thanks
Aric

The PowerEdge 2600 does support a split backplane, either on the standard Scsi, embedded Perc 4/di or the PCI Perc 4/dc, but the factory will not configure a Raid 5 across both channels (as in your previous post).
These are the factory configurations possible on the PowerEdge 2600 with a split backplane:
- Split Backplane, Drives attached to onboard SCSI controller, No RAID
- Split Backplane, Drives attached to PERC4/Di, all drives RAID 0
- Split Backplane, Drives attached to PERC4/Di, all drives RAID 1
- Split Backplane,Drives attached to PERC4/Di, RAID 1,RAID 5
- Split backplane: Drives attached to RAID card, all drives RAID 0
- Split Backplane, Drives attached to PERC card, all drives RAID 1
- Split Backplane,Drives att. to RAID card, RAID 1,RAID 5
