To my reading that's just a warning from the Dell software that the particular drive you've used (ST3750330NS, which is a Seagate Barracuda ES.2 750GB SATA drive) isn't certified by Dell on your hardware. It doesn't mean any more than that.

Judging by the firmware bundle, Dell used the previous generation Seagate Barracuda ES 750GB SATA drive on some servers. I can't see you being able to disable this warning without uninstalling Server Administrator - though I expect it to be benign.

I'm likely to be installing four ST31000640SS drives (Seagate Barracuda ES.2 1TB SAS) in my PowerEdge 2950 III; Dell don't sell these drives and that's the kind of storage I need in this server. I realise that I'm stepping outside the strict confines of Dell's qualification, though Dell do use a lot of Seagate drives. The machine has two 300GB 15000rpm SAS drives from Dell - they're ST3300655SS drives (Seagate Cheetah 15K.5 300GB SAS).

You can either get Dell certified drives or a non-Dell controller ... there is no way to disable the alerts.  It is more than a two-bit identifier ... they are tuned to the requirements of Dell controllers.  You can do what you like with your server, but you bought it from Dell, and in order to guarantee its reliability and performance, Dell certifies drives to work with their controllers without issue.  This is common among most of the OEM's, not just Dell.  Certified drives can be purchased through suppliers for MUCH less than buying the same certified drive from Dell.

How can I disable these alerts, they are spamming my event log 50 a day.  Its the same model drives, for $300 less.  Thats a lot ot pay for two-bits written into a chip to say they are certified.  Server is out of warranty anyhow.  Please, its my server how can I make it go way and stop nagging me.
