PERC 3000 Controller Virtual Drive Failed
We have a PowerEdge T110 server with a PERC 3000 controller and a RAID 5 array with 3 SATA drives. I recently removed a SATA drive from an eSATA enclosure and put it into the 4th bay available in the server to run as a spare. At boot, the PERC BIOS readout shows RAID 5 array, OK, but then it reads the spare as Virtual Drive - Fail. But in Windows, I can read from it just fine. How do I correct that readout? Or is there something I am missing? I plugged the spare drive directly in without using the PERC BIOS to initialize or anything mostly because I'm not familiar with how it works and fear I might accidentally do something to the RAID5 array. That, and there is already a lot of data on the drive I did not want to lose.
Anyway, not a problem per say, but it does look very weird whenever we boot the server up. Is there anything I should do to clear the error message or should I just leave it as is since Windows works with the drive just fine?
