Perc S100 RAID1 on ESX does not work
Compatibility matrix tells T110 is supported with ESXi 4.1, this is partially false, it does not support S100 RAID1.

ESXi 4.1 may fully support the T110, but this doesn't mean all possible hardware that will work in a T110 supports ESXi 4.1.
As you probably read in the S-series raid controller documentation (platform requirements and then operating system), this controller is only supported with Windows (minimum is 2003 SP2/2003 R2 SP2). This is because it's a software raid controller and therefor the drivers need to run the raid config.
You'll want to look into getting an "H-series" raid controller (or maybe the onboard SATA will work too).

Moral of the story here? make sure you check the HCL for the raid controller you intend to use.
Beware of the SAS 6/iR controller, while supported, it stinks on performance.

Please modify your compatibility matrix according this problem, right now I am in trouble, I can't even get this server running.
When I buy a server compatible with ESX4.1, I expect it runs without restriction with all the material inside this server.
Really I am not happy!

Neither JOHNADCO or I represent Dell (this is a user-to-user forum).
A hardware manufacturer will test their hardware in certain setups. They'll then validate a certain setup. This doesn't mean that they validated every possible setup to be compatible with everything.
If you want a manufacturer to only consider a piece of hardware ESX 4.1 compatible if all possible options on the server, then a manufacturer would never be able to offer any low cost options on servers.
Also, when you go to the Dell website and pick to customize a T110, and you go to "Hard Drive Configuration" and select the "Help me choose", you get to this page.<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed / replaced from this post by Dell>
Under the S300 and S100 it clearly says "Windows OS only".
I understand your frustration, but if you had done a bit of research you would have found this out before you purchased the server and you could have picked either the SAS6iR (only supports raid 0 or raid 1 and has no cache) or looked for a server that's offered with a PERC6i or PERC H700 (these support raid 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and have battery backed write cache).
