PowerEdge 1850 hangs at "Initializing SCSI Controllers [ Chip 0: Init]

We've had several PowerEdge servers running for a few years now.  One of them we found hung the other day, and seems stuck at the:

Initializing SCSI Controllers [ Chip 0: Init ]

message.  You have to power cycle the box to get it's attention.  We can't get it to come up in diagnostics mode, or any other boot options.  We pulled the server from the rack and reseated everything just on a hope and a prayer but that didn't help anything.  I assume this means we've just had a SCSI card or other component just go bad but wanted to make sure someone hadn't found a software type fix.

Thanks,

Gary Gressel

Gary,

Ive had a similar issue with several of our PE 1850 Servers with the Dell Perc 4e/si card. I believe Dell tech replaced riser card, memory module, and motherboard to fix one of them. The one that I am working on today seems to be a bad 256mb memory simm on the raid riser card. I'm going to order one to see if that resolves booting issue with this box.
