PowerEdge R630 with S130 Software RAID

Hi all

We have had 3 of the above servers delivered, with RAID 1 already configured. 2 x 250GB SATA drives with the S130 controller.

I have gone to install the OS - Windows Server 2008 R2, when going to select volume to install OS on I got the screen stating no disks have been detected due to driver issues.

On Dell support drivers and downloads, can only see the S130 controller driver for SAS RAID, downloaded this anyway and tried to load drivers off it (it is an executable - I have extracted files onto USB using 7zip), but still no joy - will not recognise.

Can anyone let me know how i can get past this and where to get the WIndows 2008 R2 driver for S130 controller - for SATA drives? Or will it still use the same driver as SAS??

Full list of drivers here:

Thanks

Sarah

Sarahc-it,

When you followed the link to the S130 driver, which of the listed downloads did you use?

You would need to use the Hard Drive version, which you can find an alternative download here - http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER02303497M/21/SAS_RAID_DRIVER_WS2008R2SP1_S130_4.0.0-0035_A00_ZPE.exe

After downloading then run and extract files as before. Before you transfer the files, please reformat the USB key, then place the extracted files on the USB. When you boot to the 2008 R2 SP1 media  (must be this version), you will select Load Drivers and browse to the USB. It should then allow you to proceed after the driver loads.

You can also find, on page 31, a very good walkthrough on the install process from start to finish. http://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/poweredge-rc-s130_User's%20Guide_en-us.pdf

Let me know if this helps.
