Poweredge T130 onboard RAID reliability
We're using a Dell PowerEdge T130 server with Windows Server 2012 R2 since two years, with the onboard RAID controller set to RAID 1 & two disks.
Although we had no problems, as I have read some messages discouraging using the onboard RAID controller, I am wondering at what risk are we exposed

Do you think that those limits could affect a very simple configuration as mine, RAID 1 on 2 disks? What may I expect in case of failure?

Using the software controller (S130) is not adding risk to your configuration, but instead doesn't decrease the risk of an issue after a failure occurs, as a hardware controller does. This is due to software controllers not having the features or the stability of hardware raid controllers. You cans see the massive difference between the software and hardware controllers here, as well as see the support configuration differences.

Thinking about upgrading our server T130 software RAID with Windows Server 2012 R2 to a full hardware RAID solution, is there any chance to upgrade without reinstalling from scratch? If so, what steps are required?

There isn't a supported path to upgrade from the S130 to H730 without reinstalling, as seen here it isn't supported, but that being said it doesn't mean that it won't work, just that there isn't a supported way to do it.
