R720xd replacement disk

We've have had a disk failure on an out of warranty R720xd backup server. I've entered the serial number on Dell.com but a suitable replacement part was not listed. I also tried a chat with sales but had no luck.

The failed part is a 4TB Sata 7.2k drive that is listed in the specs as "HD, 4T, ES, 7.2K, 3.5, S-MEG, E/C" and the disk itself shows Dell Constellation ES.3 4TB.

Would it be possible for someone to advise on a suitable replacement please?

Hello @AvalancheFire,

The Dell Part Numbers are Dell international codes, they all are the same for every country. And it is the most accurate denomination we have for any hardware part. The reason you cannot find them on the site is because they are not there available to be sold. You will need to find them somewhere else. You can try to contact Sales directly with the part numbers or you can also contact our Global Partners Network to ask for the same and they will offer you some options. You can find your nearest Dell partner by using this site: https://dell.to/3q7pw6B Finally, you can look for the part number on the web and find a thirdly party reseller.

The Dell Part Number of your current hard drive is THGNN. As my colleague @Dell-DylanJ correctly pointed out the 2MJ55 is a compatible disk. Also compatible disks are N36YX, GCHH1, 61FFW, 74PPR, 95M6K, XPJ47, MWHY9, YH3T9. If you can find one of those, you will have a suitable replacement.

I strongly recommend you to search for an Enterprise certified drive to avoid incompatibility issues.

I hope you find this information useful. Any other question please, don't hesitate to ask.
Regards.

Hello,

Part number 2MJ55 should work for you. However, if you want to share the part number of the failed drive (or an image of the label, if that's easier), I can use that for confirmation. Let me know if this helps out!

Thank you, I apricate the help. Photo of drive is below.

I tried searching "2MJ55" on https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/partsforyourdell/index but didn't get any results. I'm UK based would it be a different part number?

If I search "4TB SATA" I see the following options (ruling out hot swappable).

 https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/dell-4tb-7200-rpm-sata-enterprise-6gbps-35in-hard-drive/apd/400-bgpb/storage-drives-media

https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/dell-4tb-72k-rpm-sata-6gbps-512n-35in-drive/apd/400-afnr/storage-drives-media

Are either of the above compatible?

I can also source a non Dell Seagate branded ST4000NM0033 drive, would this be compatible? and would a Dell drive be different or preferable?
