R730 with H730 Controller
Hello, sorry if this has been asked before but I can't seem to find it during a search.
I have a PowerEdge R730 with an H730 controller. Currently I have 8x 2TB drives in the system. I would like to upgrade the drives to 8TB drives. My question, what is the max size hard drive that an R730 with an H730 card handle?
Thank you.

Mhobbs72,
You wouldn't have an issue using 8 TB drives in the R730, the largest I see available from us for that server is a 12TB SATA drive (part 9HXK6). Neither the controller or server have a set max hard drive size, there is a limit to the number of virtual disks, but not a size limitation of Physical Disks.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply. To follow up, could you tell me what the limit is on the number of virtual disks? and also if there is a size limit of the virtual disks?
Thank you again!

The maximum Virtual Disks supported on the H730 would be 64, there is not a set maximum size to the Virtual Disks themselves.
