RAID not supported in HBA355i storage controller

We have recently purchased R650 server and we realised RAID controller is not installed in this server while we need to configure RAID. HBA355i is installed which i believe does not support RAID. I need to know if i can still create RAID by installing any other RAID controller or mess has happen and no undo to this issue?

The HBA355i is a passtrough ONLY controller (NON Raid) and is used for Software Defined Storage Solution like HCI and the HBA355e is the external version for Tape and RAID SANs.

You need to talk to Dell whats needed to replace the controller against the H755(Cache&Batterie) or H355(NonCache/Batterie).

If you have a SAS/SATA or NVMe Backplane?

I think it's SAS/SATA backplane. Though, I am wondering if i can still enable software RAID e.g. S150 while not having PERC installed?
