Remove perc card for no raid?

Hi.

I have just bought a s/h R710 with a perc H700-1 installed. I don't need  RAID so can I just remove the card and set BIOS to "no raid"?

Thanks,

Geoff

Thanks, I'll have a look at the cable lengths for a start, then

As long as you're able to cable from the backplane to the system board, it would be fine. The H700 doesn't support passthrough mode, so you would either need to remove/replace it, or run your drives in single drive RAID 0 volumes.

Hi again. Can't see that there's anything to connect to on the board. Is there an adapter to go in the controller slot?

PS it's the 2.5" hard drive version

I'll have to steer you towards the hardware manual. Page 180 has a diagram for all the connectors. You'll need to cable up using the SATA connectors. Be advised, the onboard storage controller is a SATA controller, so you won't be able to use SAS drives. https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_poweredge/poweredge-r710_owner%27s%20manual_en-us.pdf
