Replace SSD Mu for SSD RI
Hello, I have MU SSD in an R740XD server, I want to make a stock of parts but I can only find RI SSD, can I replace the MU with a RI in an existing array? No Events found!

Hi,
It seems like you are referring to different types of Solid State Drives (SSDs) with designations "MU" and "RI." Without specific information about these designations, it's challenging to provide a precise answer. Generally, different SSD designations can indicate specific characteristics or intended use cases, such as endurance levels or performance.
Here are some considerations:
In summary, while it's theoretically possible to replace MU SSDs with RI SSDs in an existing array, it's crucial to consider factors such as endurance, performance, compatibility, and any vendor-specific recommendations. Consult the documentation provided by the SSD manufacturer and your server vendor for accurate and specific information based on the models you have.

Thank you for your contribution, I have had difficulty finding the answer I am looking for. What I have now is this model: Dell RD78N 960GB SSD vSAS SED Mixed Use 512e 2.5in and I want to replace it with the following: JDK40 Dell 960GB SAS 12GBPS Read Intensive 2.5" SSD Reading what you write to me, it seems possible to replace but we could have problems with performance, right?DELL-Charles R

Hello Oscar-ibm,
Using the same drive would be preferable but I don't think it would have a performance hit that you would notice.
Some call out from Martins information:
MU SSDs are generally designed for mixed workloads, including both read and write operations.
RI (Read Intensive) SSDs typically have lower endurance than MU (Mixed Use) SSDs
If you are doing a lot of write then you may take that into consideration and try to get MU.
You might contact Sales and see if this one is available:
