S100 Redhat linux
We bought three T310 at the office
2 Were with PERC S100 With Raid 1 2 X 0.5 TB WD SATA
1 Was with PERC S300 With Raid 5 4 X 2 TB WD SATA
REDHAT 6 X86_64 bit installed successfully on those with PERC S100, it can read the virtual disk from RAID 1 as one hardrive.
On the other hand REHAT 6.0 X86_64 can not read the Virtual disk from RAID 5 from the PERC S300
I know that DELL say that S100 and S300 do no support linux, But I can install redhat on the S100.
Can anyone tell me why s100 but not s300 ?
From what I read that the difference between S100 and S300 is the software on it i.e. they are the same chipset.
BTW on the T310 with S300 I updated everytihng: BIOS, S300 Firmware, iDrac, Network card and nothing solved the problem.
Please if anyone can see a solution to this problem ?

I'd say the reason the S100 works is 'luck'.
Change to supported controllers or to an OS that does support the "S" series raid controller.
