SAS Disk Failed in RAID0 - PE1950

It would be best that in server configuration on RAID, is to use other RAID configuration other than RAID0. That is to avoid lost of data immediately when a drive fail, as there is no redundancy.

Mentioned that you have swapped 3 disks, and having the same result. What result are you getting? Same disk failing or same slot failing?

Probably you might check on your RAID card firmware level, drive firmware level and motherboard BIOS version. Update them if they are outdated.

I can see that you are using HP hard drives, I am not too sure if that is compatible with the RAID card, as Dell drive contain firmware which the RAID card needs to work well.

While SAS disks are relatively close in compatibility that there are few issues, there still CAN be issues using HP disks on Dell controllers (or vice versa), but it is most likely a bad disk. You can try to force it online, but if you can't (if the disk is "dead" dead), then you lost everything.

Never use RAID 0. Period.

The same disk failed after swap the 3 disks, the other 2 worked fine. I tried some weeks ago updating the PERC firmware but the process hanged in flashing and the PERC ended useless, so I had to change it for this one, and I dont want to take any risks trying to upgrading the firmware again. I could try if you can provide me a reliable and clear how-to-do it.

I tried one of the disk for some days and didnt fail, I think than effectively, one of the others 2 disks could be damaged. I tried to force the failed disk in PERC config but didnt respond, neither the led blink. The data in this disk is not important, I only want to get recognized by the PERC again for try to build a RAID-4 at least with other disk.

Remove the failed disk, wait 60 seconds, then re-insert. After 60 seconds, try forcing it online again ... OR just try at that point to delete the RAID configuration so you can start over.

There is no such thing as RAID 4. I mean, technically there is, but it is obsolete and not supported by hardware controllers - and for good reason. Use RAID 5 (or RAID 1 with a hot-spare).

Does seem that the drive that you are using, should be a bad drive. If you are trying to retrieve data from the original RAID0, you can force online the drive, but eventually it will fail again.
