SAS6ir Problem - Non-Volality

Hi there,

I am using Dell R210 server.  I got Sas6ir Raid controller on it.

I'm trying to configure RAID.

Everything is fine at the beginning. It shows both disks on the page.

I'm adding both disks to RAID (changing to Yes) then, C and F3.

AND, problem starts. It says,

"An error occured while writing non-volatile settings.

After that, it removes disk from raid page and not showing hdd 0

After reboot, it shows disk again but cannot raid and turns back to same error.

I plug-out and re-plug raid controller, changed disks but not working.

Is there any solution for it?

What is the make/model of the disks you are using?

Hi,

We are using Seagate Constellation ES and Barracuda SATAII . We check it with both models.

Hi,

Our Barracuda's are ES.2.

RAID error shows problem on slot 0, previous disk was Barracuda ES.2 (ST31000340NS) now we are using Constellation ES (ST31000524NS) and still shows same error.

Slot 1 has Barracuda ES.2 (ST31000340NS) and it looks fine.

There should not be a problem with the ES drives, but the Barracuda's may have issues (they are not "server" drives). Did you try with TWO ES drives?

Anyone want to guess?

I ordered 2 new sas6ir, but I don't have much time to solve it. Probably It'll take 2 weeks to change my raid controller.

Currently, disk change and reattach did not work.
