Server replacement moving Raid from old H310 to new controller

Hi. Our T620 with Perc H310 needs replacing so I'm hoping I can move the Raid to a new server, but can it be done and if so is there a better Raid controller to facilitate the move?

The existing server has 7 drives. 3 x 1TB Sas (ST1000NM0001) on a Raid 5 for the Host OS, and 4 x 2TB Sata (ST2000NM0033-9ZM175) on a Raid 10 which contain my virtual guests.

My intention is to buy a new server with new Raid controller and 2 new drives configured Raid 1 and build a new host OS. Then install Hyper V, and move the 4 x Raid 10 drives to the new server with the data intact, and then just boot my guests

My questions are:

Is this possible, and if so is one controller better advised for this than another (H330, H730, H740)?

If this is possible, is it a case of "importing" the disks, and will that require an amount of time to rebuild or check the array, or should it just work?

Any documentation on this, and anything else I should be considering?

Thank you

Smeg Head,

The migration of the Virtual Disk from the H310 to the H330/H730 is indeed supported, and steps to do so can be found here.

I wouldn't be able to attest to the time it will take though.

Hope this helps
