T300 firmware update problem

If the storage controller is not able to communicate with the drive you will not be able to update the firmware. This drive is not likely supported on the storage controller that you are using. I suggest review the specifications in the storage controller manual.

The storage controller of my T300 is PERC 6/i . I've checked the manual following your link and I was not able to find a list of compatible drives. If I try to list parts & accesories in the PERC 6/i page I get an error.

In this retailer appears as compatible with T300 but does not mention the controller:

Not sure how reliable is this retailer.

When I connect the drive, a flashing amber light appears and if I try to Ctrl-R it says that the drive is initializing and it will take a long time (I did not try to leave initializing for many hours). I am not sure if this means that the controller cannot interact with the drive.

Can you please provide a list of compatible drives for T300 with 6/i ?

That drive is not supported on the PERC6i. The PERC6i does not support drives over 2TB. That drive would only work on the T300 with a pass-through SAS controller/HBA of some kind. I don't think the T300 supports UEFI boot mode, so if you were able to get the drive to function it could only be used as a data drive. If you were able to boot from the drive it would only use 2TB of the drive capacity without UEFI boot mode.

I can't think of a supported configuration in which that drive would function on the T300. The T300 is not in the part list of drive part number 91K8T. There are no public part lists I'm aware. You can go to the T300 support page to find a parts and accessories link.

I've tried to list parts & accessories in the T300 support page and it's giving me an error.

I only need to use this drive as data drive, so that is not a problem.

I am booting the server using a smaller SAS drive that is working perfectly.

There should be a configuration in which that drive works with the T300 because there is a firmware update for that drive on the T300 support page. There is any way to check the requirements of a certain update package? In the update description does not say anything about the controller. Can you please check the requirements of the update package?

I suggest review the specifications in the storage controller manual. Otherwise you can also go towards the other storage controller like AG725A .
