T40 OS installation problem with RAID5
Hi there,
I recently bougth a T40 with one drive only and no OS on sale.
Then i did an upgrade, installed 2 more drives, to get a RAID5 setup.
The 3 drives are functioning ok, i configured RAID5 pressing the F12 key.
But after this, when i try to boot from a pendrive, done with rufus with MS server 2019 iso, downloaded from microsoft site, it starts by doing a loading screen, but after it enters the dot circunference of windows, and after 5minutes or so, i get a blue screen watchdog error.
If i change the bios and start without raid configuration, it just starts the installation process normally.
I think it migth be something about the raid configuration, the raid driver on the iso, firmware update of the bios, but i can't get what it is.
Someone please can help me on this??

1) Don't use the Intel RAID. It is garbage. If you want redundancy / capacity, then do it via Windows Disk Management. Recommended would be SSD in RAID 1 for both redundancy and performance.
2) IF you insist on the Intel RAID, you likely need the drivers:

Hi there, thanks for you sugestion.
I want a RAID5 configuration for all system protection not only data protection.
I had already download 7 new drivers from dell site, but i just updated the bios firmware.
The intel RAID driver and others, only install under Windows, right? But i can't initiate a windows install because it gets stuck not recognizing the raid5 volume i created.
What can i do to overcome this? Any ideas?

Hi there,
I already read the manual before to get ideias of how to solve this.
About the boot menu, i changed to legacy, to boot and install Windows from a pen.
But it doesnt start the install if i have a raid5 configuration.
Any ideias?
I have updated the bios firmware to latest 1.6 versiin, but still stuck on this.

It won't see any drive to install on without the F6 pre install mass storage drivers. AND the raid container must be initialized BEFORE trying to load ANY OS.

Hello,
I'am trying to install windows server 2019, so it is suported by T40.
About IRST driver, it's for windows installation, and i can't install windows!
if i select in BIOS to sartup with RAID instead of AHCI it stays on the dot circle screen of windows forever, and i can't install nothing.

Bento,
You will find the steps you need in the video here the only difference is you will select Windows raid and I believe you stated you wanted a raid 5.
Let me know if this is the steps you have been doing.
