Trying to replace a failed raid 5 disk in a R720 using idrac

I have 2 raid arrays on my r720 - the second array lost one of its three disks. target 0:6. Since this server is a Xen Server Hypervisor I elected to follow instructions to replace the failed drive using the idrac8. So basically insert the new drive, assign it as a global hot spare in idrac and it should take off and rebuild in the array for the failed drive.

First attempt, two messages received and no rebuild:

idrac8.JPG

See lower highlighted pair. First (lower) it says insufficient space, then the upper message it is now a hot spare, but no rebuild.

I thought maybe a idrac firmware issue, so I updated formware from 2.30.30.30 to 2.60.60.60 and then tried again, and got the top pair of messages. As you can see a different messages.

I have verified that the disk size is exactly the same as the other drives in the array.

Any help appreciated !

Donno1893,

Would you do a screen shot of the Virtual Disk, as well as the Physical Disk page as well. I want to see the specs for the drive, as well as the VD you are trying to rebuild it to. Generally you will see these kind of errors because the drive being used doesn't meet the requirements to be able to be used (i.e. speeds to slow, drive smaller than VD drives, etc)

So just wanted to confirm. Thank you.
